Large Corporates

Introduction

Compliance is a key issue for larger companies, bringing with it the need to control both costs and reputational issues, without losing focus on core business processes.

However, the current and future regulatory environment is about far more than compliance alone. Above all, it provides an incentive to rethink the entire life-cycle of any given electrical product, with the issues and costs of handling its disposal at the end of its useful life becoming a fundamental consideration in its design, manufacture and distribution.

What we do

As well as full WEEE compliance service, through A1 Compliance – our wholly-owned Producer Compliance Scheme, fully registered with, and approved by, the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). – we offer a wide range of ad hoc and consultancy services. Our aim is to help our customers go beyond mere ‘compliance’, identifying and realising new efficiencies and opportunities.

Our track record

As just one example of how we help develop effective supply chain solutions for major companies, we work with one of the UK’s – indeed, one of the world’s – most successful gaming platforms, as a vital link in an integrated fault management process.

If a customer experiences a fault with their product, they return it by mail to a central repair facility. When the product is repaired, its plastic casing is removed, and sent to us. We dismantle the case and any remaining components; clean all the materials; and separate them by plastic type. We then crush and pack the plastics, and send them to be processed as re-usable raw materials, often for the same original products.

The process as a whole drives down costs for the original manufacturer at every stage, and increases the proportion of recycled materials they can use in their products.
