NHS and Public Sector

Introduction

Just as in the Private Sector, organisations in the Public Sector have a statutory duty to ensure that any electronic or electrical equipment they use is properly treated at the end of its useful life. In addition, due to the confidential and sensitive nature of much of the data handled by public sector organisations, they must take particular care to ensure data security.

In the health sector specifically, organisations must ensure that anyone coming into contact with the equipment – for example, when collecting waste from hospital premises – is fully trained in all relevant health and safety procedures.

Our track record

At The Electronic Waste Company, we have significant experience of working with the public sector, and especially with the NHS. We have long-standing contracts with various NHS Trust’s Nationwide, an area of the business which is continually developing.

What we do

The services we provide in the Public Sector include collecting end-of-life electrical equipment from our customers; scrubbing the data from PCs and other data storage systems; and arranging for the re-use of suitable equipment, usually in the third sector either in the UK or overseas. Where equipment is not suitable for re-use, we disassemble it and arrange for each individual component and material type to be recycled according to regulations.
